At Premier ER + Urgent Care, approximately 70% of patients are treated and billed at urgent care-level rates. The 30% of patients who need ER-level services can expect emergency room visit costs at or below all major hospital-based emergency rooms.
Your insurance company negotiates rates with Premier. Based on the plan, your out-of-pocket expenses may vary greatly.
Each patient will have a deposit that will go towards, copay, co-insurance and/or deductible and is collected at the time of service.
Unfortunately, federal regulations and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services do not allow us to participate with or accept Medicare, Medicaid, or Tricare in our ER.

Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between an emergency room and urgent care?
An emergency room (ER) treats serious or life-threatening conditions that need immediate attention — such as chest pain, severe abdominal pain, dehydration, or complex fractures.
Urgent care is for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, including colds, flu, strep throat, and minor injuries.
At Premier ER + Urgent Care in Waco, Woodway, Temple, and San Marcos, both services are available under one roof — so you don't have to choose.
What is in-network vs. out-of-network mean?
For urgent care services at Premier ER + Urgent Care in Central Texas, in-network means we have a contract with your insurance company and have agreed on what the cost is for any service provided to you. Out-of-network means we do not have a contract with your insurance company in setting the rates. As a result, you may be billed a different rate as determined by your insurance company and benefit plan.
For emergency care at Premier ER + Urgent Care in Central Texas, state law says (states or requires) that all patients have to be treated regardless of their insurance plan or ability to pay. This means your insurance company should consider you in-network. We will bill you the amount defined by your insurance plan.
How does Premier ER + Urgent Care determine what to charge patients?
Your insurance company works directly with providers like Premier ER + Urgent Care to negotiate rates and determine what services cost. These rates are based on factors such as provider quality, accessibility, and overall patient experience at our Central Texas locations.
How can I book a healthcare appointment?
You can start your check-in online before you arrive, or simply walk in at any of our Premier ER + Urgent Care locations in Waco, Woodway, Temple, or San Marcos — no appointment necessary. Online check-in allows you to get the process started from home so you spend less time waiting and more time getting the care you need.
